Tijuana Country Club

A traditional club in Tijuana’s urban jungle. This golf course was originally built in 1927 but was redesigned by Alister Mackenzie in 1947. Alister Mackenzie ranks among the leading golf course architects worldwide, having also designed the golf course at Augusta or Cypress Point. During his time the club’s area was still outside of the city, and today it is a green oasis in the city’s center. The golf course has 18 holes (par-72). What’s special about Tijuana Country Club is its location: the course is located directly in the center of the second largest city in Mexico. The noise of the city is part of the extraordinary scenario. The site is laid out in the style of a traditional country club, with lanes framed by trees, a variety of short and long holes, doglegs and several well-placed bunkers. The lanes are fairly flat, but some tees are elevated. In the Tijuana Country Club, players do not have a view of mountains or shimmering blue lagoons; here, they have fantastic panoramic views of the city and the conglomerate of Mexican life. The course is well-kept, athletically challenging and varied – beautiful. Tijuana is located directly at the border to the USA.
