Vidago Palace Golf Course

The Vidago Palace Golf Course is located on land belonging to the Vidago Palace Hotel in the northern Portuguese town of Vidago, in the county of Chaves near the Spanish border. Set in the Centenary Park of the hotel and in the Oura valley, the Vidago Palace Golf Course offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills, villas, and villages. Due to its direct connection to the A24, it is easily reached from Chaves, only 20 kilometers away, and Vila Real, located 50 kilometers to the north. Via the A7, the Vidago Palace Golf Course can be reached within an hour from Porto. It was originally opened in 1936 and redesigned according to plans created by Philip Mackenzie Ross to make it into a 9-hole course. In 2010, the Vidago Palace Golf Course was redesigned as an 18-hole course, type parkland with par 72, by golf course architect duo Bob Cameron and Chris Powell. The course was conceived as a championship course and offers a challenge to even the most experienced golfers. Elevated greens and tees, bunkers, and centuries-old trees create a challenging level. The first four holes are played in the Centenary Park at the Vidago Palace Hotel. The next eleven were created in the framework of the new design in the Oura valley, and the last three holes lead to the upper part of the Centenary Park.
