Volcano Golf & Country Club

The Volcano Golf & Country Club sits near the city of Volcano at the edge of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the main island of Hawaii, which belongs to the County Hawaii in the US state of Hawaii. It stretches along the foothills of the volcano Kilauea in the Hawaiian highland at a height of 1,219 meters and allows a spectacular view of the neighboring peaks of the volcanoes Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. The Volcano Golf & Country Club is eight minutes away from Volcano’s center, and can be reached in 45 minutes from Hilo via the HI-11/Hawaii Belt Rd. It was opened back in 1921, then as a one hole golf course, which has expanded into an 18-hole course with par 72 in the meantime. Arthur Jack Snyder was responsible for its design. He created a 5,986 meter long course with narrow, stretched out fairways closely lined by trees and mostly small greens. The differences in elevation become clear on the fairways that run uphill and downhill. There are only a few, small water hazards at holes 2 and 4. Doglegs and bunkers ensure difficulties on the technically, tactically, and athletically demanding course of the Volcano Golf & Country Club, which is Hawaii’s highest course. Golfers can purchase shirts, hats, balls and other accessories at the on-site Pro Shop and train their golf skills on the club’s driving range in the practice area.
