White River Country Club

The White River Country Club is located at the edge of the South African city of White River in the province of Mpumalanga. It lies embedded between picturesque plantations and forests on the banks of the White River and allows a beautiful view of the river and the surrounding Lowveld area. The White River Country Club is easy to reach from the center of White River in nine minutes via the R 40/R 538. Nelspruit, the province’s capital, is also just half an hour away from the club via the R 40. It was founded in 1923 and initially offered the 9-hole Pine Lake Inn Course. In 1973, the White River Country Club switched to its current club grounds and also first operated just a 9-hole course there. Just a few years ago, renowned golf course architects Gary Player and Reg Taylor expanded it to an 18-hole parkland course with par 71. The course measures 6,036 meters and presents two opposing 9-hole loops. The fairways are broad and in part densely lined by pine trees. Solitary trees are frequently tricky hazards on the fairways. The water of the White River is nearly ever-present, flowing through the course with many water branches. At 11 of the 18 holes, golfers encounter water hazards which must be bravely played across at holes 5, 7 to 9, 14, and 17.
