Club del Lago Golf

The Club del Lago Golf is not far from the city of Punta del Este, which belongs to the Departamento Maldonado in the South American nation of Uruguay. It extends along the bank of the Laguna del Sauce near the beaches of Solana and Portezuelo del Mar and is in the Hotel del Lago Golf & Art Resort. Located only eleven minutes from the international airport Carlos Curbelo, the Club del Lago Golf can easily be reached in 20 minutes from the center of Punta del Estes via the IB/Interbalnearia. Since 1983, it is home to three large golf circuits with 18-hole and par 73, which can be played as 20-hole-courses with two extra holes. The 18-hole-courses circuit A (original), B and C have an average length of 6,460 meters, which can reach more than 7,300 meters by adding the 2-hole-course Laguna. Enrique Serra was responsible for the design of course A at the Club del Lago Golf. The course runs across hilly terrain and contains long, narrow fairways, fast, elevated greens, strategically protected from bunkers, and six artificial lakes. Especially holes 12 to 15 are under a strong influence of water. The Club del Lago Golf is the first ISO 14001-certified golf club of South America. Its golf course layout was called “the Augusta of South America” by the Argentinian golf legend Roberto de Vicenzo.
