Columbia Lakes Resort

The Columbia Lakes Resort is located in the city of West Columbia, which belongs to Brazoria County in the US state of Texas. The resort is integrated into a large, densely wooded site, an area of 809 hectares that runs centrally through South Texas and is full of lakes, lagoons and majestic oak trees entangled by Spanish moss. From West Columbia’s inner city, the Columbia Lakes Resort can be reached in seven minutes. From the next large city, Houston, you can comfortable drive to the resort via the State Highway 288 S in 65 minutes. It opened an 18-hole, par 72 course in 1973, designed by Jack Mills and renovated by the famous golf course architect Tom Fazio in 1989. Nowadays, the Columbia Lakes Golf Course is 6,370 meters long and winds across a flat terrain with tree-lined fairways, large and sometimes two-storied greens, doglegs and deep, tricky bunkers. At 12 of the 18 holes you will find lakes and brooks as water hazards. Hole 6 is said to be especially demanding because two lakes must be overplayed. Hole 18 has not only a lake, but also a tree island in the water as an extra challenge. Hole 5 is the signature hole, a dogleg bordered by a lake on its complete right side. The Columbia Resort has hosted the Southern Texas Championship and been chosen in 2001 by Golf Digest as one of the “Best Places To Play”.
