Penang Golf Resort - Westkurs

The Penang Golf Resort is situated in the newly founded settlement of Kepala Batas, which lies in the northern Malaysian city of Seberang Perai Utara in the state of Penang. It covers 202 hectares of a former palm oil plantation. From Kepala Batas’ center, the Penang Golf Resort can be reached in just six minutes, and in about half an hour from Penang. It was founded in 1995 and features a 36-hole golf park comprised of two 18-hole parkland courses with par 72. Both of the fairly identical courses were designed by the well-known golf course architect Graham Marsh. The East Course with a length of 6,324 meters presents long, broad, contoured fairways densely lined by trees, rather small greens, doglegs, several bunkers, and water hazards at 11 of the 18 holes. The layout of the second course at the Penang Golf Resort, the West Course, has a very similar look and measures 6,247 meters. However, golfers will discover hilly terrain, more doglegs, and larger, more difficult water hazards to overcome. Both courses are championship courses and have hosted the Malaysian Open in the past. With its picturesque layout, the standard of the golf park in the Penang Golf Resort is best expressed with the designation “Jewel of the North”. Golfers will find a driving range on site as well as a putting and chipping area for practicing.
