Stone Mountain Golf Resort

The Stone Mountain Golf Resort is located near the small town of Traphill that is in Wilkes County in the US state of North Carolina. It mainly winds around the area of the former McBride farm on Greenstreet Mountain and provides a 360° degree panorama view on Stone Mountain State Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Stone Mountain Golf Resort can be reached in 14 minutes from the town center of Traphill, while it takes more than an hour from the larger cities in the area, Winston-Salem, Boone and Blowing Rock via the US-412 N and S. In 1958, the Stone Mountain Golf Resort opened an 18-hole course in mountain style with par 70, under the name Greenstreet Mountain Golf Club that was designed by Robert Nixon. In 1991, the club was renamed, the course was redone and re-opened as “The Rock” Course. The 4,937-meter-long course has long, wide fairways, of which many run uphill, and numerous elevated greens. Due to altitude differences of up to 90 meters between teeing ground and green, the golf course at the Stone Mountain Golf Resort is around 457 meters longer than it officially measures. As a mountain course, the course only has few water hazards such as a lake, some ponds and puddles at holes 5, 6, 11, 15 and 18.
